In the midst of the US renewables revolution, there are five clean-energy stocks to keep an eye on

The United States is steadily continuing on its path to a clean energy revolution, thanks to the tremendous expansion of the renewable energy sector. Although the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the country’s renewable energy sector last year, the effects were short-lived, and the sector has now resumed its steady expansion.

Renewable energy sources produced a historic 834 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of power in 2020, according to data published by the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), topping both coal and nuclear for the very first time. First Solar FSLR, Chesapeake Energy CHK, Enphase Energy ENPH, Evergy EVRG, and Ameresco AMRC are among the companies that we expect to gain from similar renewable growth in the year 2022.

Chesapeake Energy is a company that produces energy in the United States. Chesapeake Energy, based in Oklahoma City, OK, is an exploration & development firm that focuses on the acquisition, exploration, and development of assets for the production of oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids (NGLs) from subterranean reservoirs. Chesapeake finalized the $2.2 billion purchase of Vine, an energy firm focusing on the exploitation of natural gas resources in Northwest Louisiana’s over-pressured layered Haynesville as well as Mid-Bossier shale plays, in November 2021.

Evergy: Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, this corporation supplies 1.6 million clients in Kansas and Missouri with clean, safe, and reliable energy. Evergy presented a package of energy efficiency projects to the Kansas Corporation Commission in December 2021, with the goal of saving $42 million in net bill savings for Kansas residential and corporate customers. If authorized, such plans will help Evergy’s current consumers while also recruiting new ones.

Ameresco is a prominent renewable energy asset developer, owner, and operator based in Framingham, Massachusetts. Energy efficiency, infrastructure enhancements, asset sustainability, and renewable energy solutions are all part of its broad offering. Earlier in December, Ameresco announced cooperation with Merthyr Tydfil Council on energy conservation initiative, a deal that is expected to boost the company’s footprint in the UK.

Enphase Energy, based in Fermont, California, is a leading microinverter manufacturer in the United States. Aside from microinverters, the firm also creates, develops, manufactures, and distributes home energy solutions that integrate energy generation, storage, control, and communications management into a single intelligent platform. Enphase launched their all-in-one Enphase Energy System featuring IQ8 solar microinverters for clients in North America at the start of the fourth quarter of 2021.

First Solar is a prominent global provider of total PV solar energy solutions, specializing in designing, manufacturing, and distributing solar electric power modules utilizing proprietary thin-film semiconductor innovation. It is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona. First Solar had around 7.9 GWdc of overall completed Series 6 nameplate production capability across all of its plants as of September 30, 2021, which it plans to double to 16 GWdc in 2024.
